Most of the school is accessible to students with physical needs and students using wheelchairs.  However some areas of the school have steps and stairs, including the hall which is split level.  Only one remaining classroom is used on the first floor with no lift access.  The school will continue to support full access to specialist rooms for all pupils and will endeavour to re-locate classrooms and other curriculum areas for those students with physical difficulties.  This includes installing ramps and DDA compliant facilities whilst being limited to budgetary constraints.

Any new developments are carefully considered to maximise access and equality.  A lift was installed in September 2014, providing access to a number of first floor classrooms and later a new multi use, natural environment teaching (NET) room facility and additional toilets.  A further new extension created a new soft play room with a ceiling mounted hoist enabling access around the room.

Mobile hoists serve the trampoline for rebound therapy and the school swimming pool for when entering/exiting the pool.  The pool also has a height adjustable changing bed.

Our reception class has a wall mounted, height adjustable changing bed. Changing beds are also installed to the ground floor and first floor accessible toilet facilities.  There are many accessible toilets located around the school.

Two of the school minibuses have a tail lift facility, enabling all students to access the community.

Height adjustable work tables, sinks and hobs are installed in the designated Food Technology room.

Two solar domes and Water/Sand and Sensory playgrounds on the school field are entered via ramps and pathways.  These areas have a designated changing facility incorporating a DDA toilet with ramp access.

The school has automated doors at main entry/exits to aid access around the school.

A footpath/pavement along the front of the school along Harwood Hall Lane allows access to the school on foot directly from local bus routes in Corbets Tey Road.

An extension to the front of the school incorporates a Language Resource Centre for external  educational professionals.  The ground floor training room incorporates an accessible toilet.  This is available to local groups and organisations.   A first floor training room is accessed via stairs.

A parent meeting room (The Windmill Suite) provides easy access to resources and information, as well as a team of family practitioners and professionals.  This facility is on the ground floor can be accessed externally from the main school car park and internally from the school hall.

Accessible and assistive technology is utilised throughout the school to enhance the curriculum and to maximise engagement and progress for all.
