Type of School

Corbets Tey School is a day school for children and young people all of whom have statements detailing particular personal educational needs. The school caters for pupils aged 4 – 16, with learning challenges of one kind or another, including autism, and a number of medical syndromes. It is a member of the school community of the London Borough of Havering.

The Governers and staff at the school are firmly committed to the care of the children who attend the school. Our aim to enable all pupils to achieve their maximum potential in academic, physical and moral fulfilment so that they may ultimately make their value contribution to society and in preparation for later life.

Curriculum

Corbets Tey School adheres to the National Curriculum as laid down by the DfES and follows Schemes of Work designed to support this with specific reference to the Schools Special Needs status.

Ethos and Values

Corbets Tey School is forward looking, interested only in offering the highest possible standards of learning opportunity for its children and young people. The school is values lead, and works within a strong sense of community which includes the very closest professional partnership with parents.

“Corbets Tey is a good school with many outstanding features. The pupils love being there. They feel happy and supported and they make excellent progress in their personal development. Parents are very happy for their children to attend, knowing they will be safe, free from bullying and make good progress. Corbets Tey School is a reflective community in which leadership is empowered at all levels and opportunities are seized and maximised. We have had a successful track record in anticipating national curricula change and believe that we continue to do so.

It is very difficult to adequately express an ethos in words but all visitors to the school comment favourably on the calm purposeful atmosphere.

In our school we highlight the positive. We look for a child or young person’s strengths and develop those whilst at the same time being aware of a child’s needs.

We pride ourselves on our pastoral support for children and young people. The greatest concern is shown to our charges and they receive full and effective support from all.
