Curriculum | MusicAt Corbets Tey School, music is not elitist. Shakers and drums are regarded as equals to flutes and clarinets. Music is any sound that can be made with the voice, with the body, the mouth or objects. Music needs to reflect the needs of individuals in the school, both in the use of resources and planning lessons. All children are included in music lessons according to their needs. Music can be an exciting environment for children offering advenures in sound. Children and young people are able to feel a measure of success without having to learn to play a conventional instrument. Corbets Tey School believes that music can be employed specifically to assist pupils with a variety of special needs. Music is an expressive art and is taught in that manner. Special needs pupils have a whole range of emotions that they can express through music and expressive arts that might otherwise not be able to express or articulate. Corbets Tey employs the use of music in support of the teaching and learning of Literacy, Numeracy and French. Music TherapyCorbets Tey School believes that all music can be theraputic. Background music is employed to facilitate the teaching and learning environment. Music therapy is specifically offeres to pupils who are considered to be able to benefit from this. It needs to be noted that the incidence of this depends on the amount of music therapy time that is available to the school. |
