MONKEY SEE CHARITY EVENT - 31ST OCTOBER 2009

Back by popular demand, the fantastic covers band Monkey See performed at Corbets Tey School on Saturday 31st October.

Monkey See performed a great set at the school on Halloween night. They performed for free so that all money raised would benefit the school.

There was a main raffle and a separate raffle for a Playstation 3 Games Console and Blu-ray Remote Controller donated by Nick Portch.

It was a great night with some very scarily dressed people present.

A surprise donation was received from partygoers, Nigel Woffindin and Mick Bradley of Graham Lee Associates who donated £500 to pay the band for their services for the night who then promptly gave this to the school. We are so grateful to everyone involved in this wonderful event for their kindness and support.

The total raised for the school from this event is £1370.

March 2009 - Corbets Tey School PFA has been selected as one of 14 finalists in the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA) Gold Star Rewards scheme. The winning finalists will be announced on 29th April 2009.

Corbets Tey School has long counted itself lucky to enjoy the support of an extremely active Parents/Friends Association. The school benefits from an active parental and independent volunteer involvement in both the running of the PFA and assisting in many ways around the school.

The school is extremely grateful for this support and hopes it will long continue.

The PFA is a registered charity (number 289742) and its main objective is to advance the education of the pupils of the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, not normally provided by the local education authority. The PFA's activities include organising fundraising events such as golf days, raffles, sponsored events and gaining support from charitable and grant giving organisations.

Various social functions take place at throughout the year, organised by members of the PFA such as live bands, tribute bands, discos, etc. These events usually attract many parents, friends and staff who, as well as raising funds for the school, have a really great time.

The PFA committee members are:
Chairperson: Mr Eddie Fowles
Vice Chairperson: Mrs Sharon Kearney
President: Mr Colin Arthey
Vice President: Mrs Emma Allen
Treasurer: Mrs Susan Cumbers
Secretary: Mrs Julie Colgrove
Parent Training Officer: Mrs Wendy O'Hara
Parent Resource Officer: Mrs Karen Mackin
Community Officer: Mrs Jean Challis
Fundraising Officer: Mr Colin Carpenter
Assistant Fundraising Officer: Mrs Emma Marston

All parents automatically become members of the PFA. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the activities of the Parents and Friends Association, this would be extremely appreciated.
