My son Henry attends Corbets Tey School and has done so since he was 5. Upminster is the town in which I grew up and I have long been aware of the school, though it never occurred to me how much we would need it. Suffice to say I am very grateful that when it became clear our youngest son would need somewhere just like Corbets Tey, here it was. We moved back to Upminster the year before Henry started school. I spent 8 years working in the Metropolitan Police Service, latterly as a control room supervisor before taking a career break to care for Henry. My elder son attends Hall Mead School. As a parent governor I bring to the school board the perspective of a parent whose child attends. I have a postgraduate degree in economics and sit on the finance and management committee.
